Fressingfield October Report
Parish Report for Fressingfield - October 2024
Firstly, I wanted to take the time to introduce myself as your new County Councillor. I live locally with my family and love spending my time outdoors and with my camera. I have three Spaniels at home, and I’ll be your County Councillor until May 2025 when you’ll have the chance to vote again in the national county elections. Please forgive me while I get up to speed, and do get in touch at henry.lloyd@suffolk.gov.uk to raise any new or ongoing issues you feel I may not be aware of.
The way I will structure my reporting will be a little different to perhaps what you are used to, with a separate County Report for the division as a whole, covering the Suffolk-wide or more localised news and events to note within the area. The Parish reports will be therefore shorter, focusing specifically on the issues raised by you to me, or through the CC directly relating to yours or neighbouring parishes.
Church Street Flooding
One of the first issues I was made aware of when assuming my position was the flooding on Church Street, and I’ve been sent correspondence from Cllr Bennett, relating to this both from the Parish Council and with Suffolk Highways. I understand there was another incident recently where manhole covers ejected themselves from the road causing sewage to flow into the Beck. According to Suffolk Highways, the second issue has been resolved, but the first is still marked as an ongoing issue relating to drains, so I will be following this up just to see if there are any updates at all as to the timeline of the repair work.
Fressingfield has several ongoing other drainage issues so as part of this conversation with Suffolk Highways and the utility company, I’ll be looking to get a broader picture of the long-term plans for improving drainage capabilities in the village.
Stradbroke Wind Turbine
According to the zone of theoretical visibility for the Stradbroke winter turbine proposal, the entirety of Fressingfield Village would be able to see the top of the wind turbine when visibility is at its greatest. There’s a personal public consultation tomorrow (Wednesday 16th October) in Stradbroke from 10-19:00, at the community centre for you to get a full grasp of the project and its ambitions.
I’d encourage as many of you as possible who have concerns or are just intrigued to go along and see what they have planned. I’ll be there myself at some point in the day to see both the impacts and benefits for residents that the project can provide. I know it is further down the agenda for this meeting so I am sure we will come back to it in a while anyway.
Locality Budgets
We are currently in the process of ascertaining what of my locality budget remains and what has been spent on pre-committed projects. I will have a fuller picture of this by the time we next meet, and will be able to inform the Parish Council in the meantime of any updates.
Please do get in touch via email with any questions you may have at henry.lloyd@suffolk.gov.uk
